The Window Cleaning Journey
I started window cleaning at the tender age of 16, to keep busy over the summer holidays.
Traditional ladders and squeegees were the only way to do things back then, but this was 2000!
After going on to work for a national company travelling across the UK for commercial window cleaning I could see how the cleaning business was evolving – we were using high reach poles to reach glass that had never been cleaned before. The only other option had been scaffolding which was just too expensive.
Water was filtered, so we had moved away from squeegees and a cleaning agent and would only use pure filtered water that would leave glass spot and streak free.
When we started our business in 2010 we know the reach and wash system was the way forward. We needed to get to those awkward windows, in an age where health and safety is more prevalent than ever, we needed to be safe, so going up ladders carrying window cleaning equipment, with a high risk of failing was a no no.
The pure water system was a must, unfortunately the reputation of system has been impacted by people trying to make DIY systems by ordering bits and bobs on eBay, a tank a filter and some hose and brushes. Because of our experience we knew which system we needed, that the investment would be a large one, but in our eyes worth it to get gleaming windows and customer satisfaction, month on month.
But it’s not all down to the system, you still need a good team to deliver. Our poles are heavy, you need to be physically strong to carry out the job, attention to detail being key, so that every window, frame, sills and doors are sparkling once our work is done.
We must be doing something right as we have hundreds of customers mainly in the local communities within Neath Port Talbot and Pontardawe.
